The surf trip rebirth

For mainly financial reasons, one of the main poles of the surf culture is in danger: surf trips.

This is where the S&s idea kicks in: to use internet technologies to help the purest spirit. Surf trips are all about surfing different waves, but also learn from each others cultures and environments:

-1 Live the life of a local, at the home of a local.

-2 Lower the costs of plane tickets.

-3 Less risks for your home that you will be leaving to your exchange partner. Without financial transactions, the house exchange will allow your home insurance to work (with , of course, some sort of notification). The insurers prefer an occupied house to an empty one during your travels. The objective risks will be considerably lower.

An operation that will stick to the spirit

To keep the spirit while still keeping our independence, we have chosen to create a paying website that is designed to be like a sort of club. This choice will allow us to choose our partners. The Surfrider Foundation Europe is one of them. We support these fights because they concern every single surfer out there. This site will remain for all surfers, while still keeping the most authentic spirit in our way of life. In this operation, we will be offering particular networks to different artisans or craftsmen that are a big part of this surf culture ( pro surfers, photographers and 5 other categories.)

The future, information that needs to be shared

To help boost this project towards the top, that now gets the best of welcomes in the heart of the surf community, we will be simplifying the inscription process and offer 5 years to up to the 2000th member of S&s. Stay posted for more newsletters and share the information !

We have chosen to show , in this newsletter, some of John Van Hamersveld creations. Creator of the "The Endless Summer" fim poster, John's art expresses the authentic spirit of the surf trip. His creations have become surf culture emblems and icons and through these creations has sprouted a sort of freedom that few have experienced.

"The board art benefit" at the sacred craft show

The Board Art Benefit is an event designed to bring leading artists together at great venues where they will have the opportunity to create live art on surfboards for the purpose of raising support for SurfAid International. The first event will be held at the upcoming Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo in Del Mar on October 8-9, 2011
